Meet the maker

When I was little I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be a princess or a vet. This indecisiveness stayed with me all my life, the two career choices though, well... let’s just say they evolved.

As I was growing up I started realising that it wasn’t that easy to become a princess, there was one particular difficulty in the fact I happened not to be born into royalty. The vet option seemed still viable but I didn’t want to only work with sick or neglected animals (also my mum said I would have to euthanise unwanted kittens!). It wasn’t until I was 13 that I discovered there are other animal professions. Phew! I pursued my dream and studied animal husbandry, dreaming of country life and working with animals after finishing university I landed…

(wait for it!)

...

a 9-5 office job!

It wasn’t what I intended but for many reasons it made the most sense at that time. I stayed there for 13 years, so it mustn’t have been that bad. It would sound either completely crazy or very brave if I told you I quit two years ago to work with dairy cows. Well, it’s technically true, but it wasn’t brave at all, I was in a situation where I felt I had no real choice and as I could not continue my employment as it was, those childhood dreams started surfacing again in my consciousness. Perhaps the whole ordeal was the universe giving me a nudge. So I work with cows in my day job and I love it!

And the princess part? I saw a post just the other day saying “Hair bows are the new crowns”. Perhaps I have not figured out how to become a princess but I certainly help a lot of girls like little Maggie to feel like one. Through my sparkly creations I share a little of myself and my hearts desires. And through sharing my story I hope I made you believe at least just a little bit that dreams do come true.
